Blue Christmas Service: a Longest Night Service recognizing pain and loss

The holidays can be a difficult time for those of us who are struggling with loss of some kind. It can feel like the whole world is going on around us, business as usual, and we feel disconnected. The festive decorations and lights can sometimes make us feel forced to put on a jolly smile. Deep down, we may not feel jolly, or like smiling.

Darkness grows and the nights are getting longer. We gather on the longest night of the year for a worship service offering a safe place for a variety of emotions. We create safe space to remember pain and loss, the memories that remain with us bringing both joy and pain in their remembrance.

So come, recognizing that you are not alone, others are grieving too. God tenderly cares for us in our grief and welcomes us.
