Christmas Week Edition

Dear Friends,

Christmas draws near! I hope you are carving out some time for peaceful quiet, some time to allow wonder to capture your heart. Our Lord never intended for a celebration of his birth to become a burden. There are still opportunities to invite friends and family to join us in worship.

On Thursday evening at 7pm we will hold a Service of the Longest night, a contemplative Christmas service held on the solstice. We have worked to invite the community to join us and would love to have you help greet whomever comes.

On Christmas Eve, our family oriented children’s pageant will be at 9:30am, complete with bells and the Hallelujah Chorus.

At 6:45pm, brass and strings will provide a concert before our traditional candlelight service at 7:30pm.

And at 11pm, Xavier Sarabia (also known as the Prince from Little Mermaid and many other Croswell characters) will be our soloist for a communion and candlelight service. It will be magical.

As we near the end of the year, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for your deeply faithful generosity. You give in so many ways, financial giving just one of the many. As a reminder, gifts received by December 31st will fall in the 2023 tax year.

Because of the way the holidays fall this year and as appreciation for the hard work of your staff, the office will be closed between Christmas and New Year’s. We will close on December 25 and be back on Tuesday, January 2nd. We will, of course, hold services on December 31st: a joyful day of stories and carols!

One last note, on Saturday, January 13 from 9am-noon, you are all invited and wanted to attend a church leadership meeting where we will hold deep and meaningful conversations on where we are headed as this faithful, vibrant church. Come and bring your thoughts and inspiration.

Merry Christmas, dear friends. A new year comes with promise of God’s good plans!

In the name of the Bethlehem child,
Rev. Alice
